JOSEPH MARTIN
Director of Bands
Mr. Martin has been the Director of Bands at Westside High School since 2016. He previously taught for nine years at Dougherty Comprehensive High School in Albany, GA. A product of Albany, he received his Bachelor of Music Education from Albany State University and is currently in pursuit of a Master of Music Education. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity of America, Inc. He was proud to represent Westside High School as Teacher of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year.
TERRELL MCGOWAN
Asst. Director
Band Director, Weaver Middle School
Mr. McGowan joined WHS Band in 2021. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Albany State University and Master of Music Education from The University of Mississippi. Mr. McGowan is a former student of Mr. Joseph Martin
CHRISTOPHER TARD, JR.
Percussion Instructor
Mr. Tard is a native of Macon, GA and a proud of alumnus of Westside High School. He recently obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Contemporary Musicianship from Middle Georgia State University. Mr. Tard is the music teacher at Rosa Taylor Elementary School. He is also a member of the Percussive Arts Society.
